Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask most often.

Do you travel outside Greater Montréal ?

Yes. The base is in Saint-Hubert, but mandates happen all across Québec and Canada, and regularly overseas : Switzerland, Belgium, Morocco, Dubai, Mexico. Travel and accommodation costs are itemized separately in the quote, never buried in a flat fee.

Can I hire you just for programming, or just for operation ?

Yes, all four services can be booked separately. Plenty of productions already have their own designer and are looking for a grandMA programmer, or the other way around. Tell me what you already have in place and we'll shape the mandate around it.

What consoles do you work on ?

grandMA2 and grandMA3, both in the room and in pre-production. Off-site pre-production runs in WYSIWYG Perform, which means arriving with palettes, groups and the show structure already built. Video integration goes through QLab.

What do I actually get ?

A package the production can act on directly : dimensioned lighting plot, patch, fixture schedule and legend, general notes covering rigging and power distribution.

After the event, you get the documented showfile handed over — your team can pick it up without me.

How is pricing worked out ?

Line by line, not as an opaque flat fee : design, the lighting plot, off-site pre-production and on-site operation are quoted separately. You see exactly what you're paying for, and you can drop a line item.

The quote comes after reading the rundown — without it, any number would just be a guess. A deposit is due on confirmation, with the balance due at the end of the mandate.

How far in advance should I book ?

Earlier is better, especially during busy seasons. But the real point isn't the lead time : it's that pre-production happens before arriving in the room. Time in the room is the most expensive part of a production — it should go to rehearsal, not to catching up.

Do you offer grandMA training ?

Yes, one-on-one or in groups, on your own gear or in-house : getting started and MA logic, structuring showfiles and cue lists, migrating from grandMA2 to grandMA3, or support through an actual pre-production.

Do you work in English ?

Yes. Plots and technical documentation are delivered in French or English depending on the crew executing them — it's routine on corporate mandates and international tours.
